" Provide a youth with consistent and positive adult friendship

" Expose a youth to new opportunities, experiences, and ideas

" Assist a youth in setting goals and achieving success

Mentors must have:
Concern for youth
Open heart and mind
Ability to keep commitments
2-4 hours a week to spend with a young person for at least 1 year
Desire to participate in trainings, service projects, and fun group activities

Be a tutor and...

" Provide academic tutoring in math, language arts, social studies, and science

" Teach students to set goals and organize their time effectively

" Engage youth in activities focused on diversity appreciation,
self-esteem enhancement, and conflict resolution

Tutoring Commitment:
Initial orientation and training
2 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months
