    Be a Seven Tepees Tutor

Share your knowledge with a Seven Tepees youth! Become a volunteer tutor! Help students, ages 11-17, with their homework assignments after school at the Seven Tepees Learning Center in the Mission district. You will be rewarded by knowing that your commitment will strengthen the academic success of a young person. You will have fun and be surprised at how much you also learn.

The Seven Tepees Tutoring Commitment

  • Have a concern for youth and a desire to learn more
  • Complete an application and reference check
  • Complete an interview
  • Attend tutor training
  • Commit to six months (one semester) for a minimum of one day per week
  • Tutor after school: 4:00- 6:00 p.m. any weekday (3:30 p.m. tutor check-in)

Tutors work with students one-on-one or in small groups. They focus on academic goals and core subjects such as English and math. Science, history and foreign languages are also needed. You can specify subjects that you would prefer. Additionally, tutors participate in Seven Tepees group activities and workshops that focus on health issues, art, community building, computer training, and learning about the environment.
